Cherokee voters say ‘no’ to alcohol sales
It is not that wine is considered spirit
that may had their tribe saying no.
The truth lies in this story of a choice
from those that weren't always heard.
"Opponents of the referendum said that easier access to alcohol would lead to increased rates of alcoholism, drunken driving and domestic violence."
Enough, it was as if they said,
enough of humankind's numbness to the truth.
The curve of the truth is gradual toward Love,
too much trajectory in the song
and we shroud the lie from our self-inflicted misery,
a weary gait that brings wondering to our sober face.
Eyes wide open, hands outstretched toward one another.
“If we made $100 in revenue from alcohol, it would cost us $10,000 to treat the problem,” said Peggy Hill of the Yellow Hill community."
Money, money, money, no more its grip on our spirits,
let it free of us, send it away with its shivering wallet,
consumption's hypnotized countenance- Wake up!
"A few of those gathered wore T-shirts that read, “We have come too far to die by our own hand.”
The hands hold our actions within them,
the soles of our feet in motion with their beginning,
our thoughts gliding inside the other toward laughter,
on the way to a mesmerized truth, a stunning canvas…
Peace
