David Barton Says There Will Be No AIDS Cure Because It’s God’s Punishment For Being Gay
Dear David, you say that the US has spent 10 billion on the cure, as if that is wasteful and sinful, and then you say you don't think we'll ever find a cure for aids because their, homosexuals, bodies are penalizing them for their "lifestyle". By those standards, what do you make of the 4.4 trillion spent on the "war on terror"?
Economic Costs Summary: $4.4 Trillion and Counting - http://costsofwar.org/article/economic-cost-summary.
It's ungodly to spend 10 billion on aids, but spending 4.4 trillion on war is the righteous thing to do?
David, I find your message to be devoid of any critical thought. You believe that the bible is the directive for humankind, so, David, surely you follow all of the commandments set forth in your book? What about the death penalty? Where do you stand on that?
"Jesus flatly rejected the Old Testament principle of taking equal revenge for a wrong done, Matthew 5:38-41, Luke 9:52-56. He also said that we are all sinners and do not have the right to pass judgment on one another (Matthew 7:1-5)."
What is your take on wearing two different kinds of cloth? Where do you stand on economic issues- the poor, those without shelter, the hungry? School lunch programs?
What of Psalms, 12:5, brother? 'Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,’ says the LORD. I will protect them from those who malign them.”?"
Nothing in there about homosexuals being excluded from such protection.
Luke 6:20-21 “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours in the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.”
There are hungry gay people who weep and laugh. Are they to be ignored, allowed to die without hope for their entrance to the kingdom of God? If your answer is one of indifference to anyone, you are guilty, not they. What to do with a poor gay person, especially one that has aids or hiv? Surely this question keeps you up at night with consternation over the "truth" found within the verses where God blesses the poor and needy and promises to protect them from those who malign them? Says nothing about who the poor or the needy are, makes no mention of "lifestyle", unless you are counted among the rich?
Come on, David! Surely you see that it truly matters less who a person loves as much as it matters that you apply your "doctrine" to all equally, not as method to demean those "different" than you in your search for a truth that applies to all equally?
I find it sorrowful that you shrug off the plight of those you deem sinners and forget that you're equals, through and through, all children of the Creator, stewards to Home and all others.
It's not some, brother, it's all.
Rise now, brother, go and feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the needy, and love all equally...
Bless you and yours, David...
Sincerely, Love and Peace Mark r. Prime
