Lobbing Missiles

"lobbing in a few missiles"... The ease of which we lob things about as if there is no other choice. Most sad.

Peace is not an agreement, Peace is. I know that doesn't do much as far as a "plan" is concerned, but when one talks of airstrikes, an abhorrent word to be sure, then Peace is already hobbled by the implementations of war.

When we speak of countries that "hate us", we pigeonhole the whole of the peoples within the borders of a nation that is being controlled by the machination of a warring machine, not unlike we have here in the good ol' US of A...

Praying to the heavens (which I believe is beneath our feet) is part of the problem. Prayer is an action word, we have the power within ourselves to end all war, but it seems an easy way to avoid seeing our own collusion by then "leaving it up to God". That strategy might be a mistake, perhaps imagining that that is the way "we" want it to be handled is an error in judgment...

The "defense" of a nation is no way to solve the issues facing another nation that is not a "threat" to the US, foreign or domestic.

Certainly the US needs to care for those suffering within its borders, and then certainly care for those that we are able to outside of our own borders, but going to war to end a war overseas is not the pathway to Peace...

I have been witness to the four pillars and see no reason to carry death there. Doesn’t the world know that life moves for more than just the sons of Abraham? O! I see the stunned throats floating by in the dusk to their stiff-limbed sleep as metal rains down over the Jordan’s western prophet, children dying there. I am here, waiting, breathing in the dusk under the shadow of the patriarch, asking, can we again build the shrine inside the soul and leave our flesh to time? © 2008 mrp/thepoetryman

Waiting for It

Why do they stay there, between war and peace? Sky’s tapestry doles out guns, bombs and rocks while flesh and bone swim away from the ache yet live on as the food for the murder of peace. Why do we hide from the truth as if it were an ogre while death makes a home inside their living and war dispatches a raven to their door, smirking with the teeth of empire? Why do we wait, stooped for another wink? The sky’s drapery has tossed down ample clues, peace is breathing in harmony with war. (Road-maps are useless to blind leaders.) Why do they hold there, hunched in the gloom? Hatred’s bird cackling with bereavement needs end. Are we not rightly dishonored when we fill its trough with blood? © 2007 mrp/thepoetryman
