ABANDONED INHALATION (The 24th Violent Verse)

Her thighs waited for hands to find their way
Along the pleasing path. (As she watched him, she
thought, "This will make everything alright again."
The naked stranger, her husband, moved toward her.)
She held her breath, readied her legs, waiting for him.
His rough hands grabbed her ankles and pulled her ass
To the edge, his unexpected finger plunged inside her,
Welcomed by her abandoned inhalation.

She watched him intently as he pushed inside.
His eyes were closed, legs crashing hard against her
As she felt the hotness rising up inside him. His eyes
Remained closed. She touched her breasts with one hand
And thrust the other down to discover her stiff wetness.
He groaned loudly and spilled his fury deep inside of her,
Then angrily shoved her legs from off of his shoulders
And, without a word, slammed the bathroom door.

She thrust both of her hands to her startled eyes,
Wincing as the tears flowed over last nights broken skin.

  1. These poems are extremely painful to read, TPM. Which is as it should be, I know.

  2. Elizabeth,
I do hope they cause some to reconsider using violence as a way to express themselves.

FAULT METER

FAULT METER    When you get a question wrong you will hear three loud beeps followed by an even louder ticking of a clock.    (Like tick-tick-tick-tick-tick?)    You are half right.    (Like tock-tock-tock-tock-tock?)    You got two halves of it.    (Then I give up!)    You do?    (It ain’t out of weakness, it’s my adhdad.) I understand.    (You understand what?)    That it’s not out of any weakness on your part.    (Weakness, on my part in what?)    Never mind, it’s definitely adhdad.     •    We float, we fly, we soar!             PER+PLEX-ED When you haven’t heard the truth in so long, when you do, it rings a most familiar s ong. That’s the human song, the truth rolling out exactly when it should.      (If a truth is told and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound only to the one that spoke it?)    Yes, but our ears aren’t strong enough to hear it.     [a perplexed silence] © 2017 Mark Richard Prime
