SOMETHING COLD - 29th September Song

Have you ever touched something cold? I mean cold, not as ice, but as bitter as oblivion?

Have you ever touched something, something as cold as the universe leaking nightfall, frigid as an unopened hand frosted with shame?

Our numbness embarks upon this, our private voyage traversing over a glacial truth buried under stars, beneath our frostbitten souls and veined throbbing fetching bones for the scabby mongrels of cosmic machinery.

There’s no flight, no escape from such famished consent, if there were, the final thing we’d touch would be warm.

  1. Love your September poems, TPM. The artwork by Bondarowicz (a fellow Pole!) is pretty awesome, too. The collection would make a nice book.

  2. Elizabeth,
Thank you. You are most kind.

Yes. Marcin and I have briefly talked about a book of September Songs and it seems to be a fairly popular idea around these parts. :>)

FAULT METER

FAULT METER    When you get a question wrong you will hear three loud beeps followed by an even louder ticking of a clock.    (Like tick-tick-tick-tick-tick?)    You are half right.    (Like tock-tock-tock-tock-tock?)    You got two halves of it.    (Then I give up!)    You do?    (It ain’t out of weakness, it’s my adhdad.) I understand.    (You understand what?)    That it’s not out of any weakness on your part.    (Weakness, on my part in what?)    Never mind, it’s definitely adhdad.     •    We float, we fly, we soar! That’s the human song, the truth rolling out exactly when it should.      (If a truth is told and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound only to the one that spoke it?)    Yes, but our ears aren’t strong enough to hear it.     [a perplexed silence] © 2017 Mark Richard Prime
